Somewhere deep in rural America, a middle aged man receives the news that his father is facing the final days of his life following a terminal illness. The diagnosis marks the beginning of the son’s single handed effort to take care of his father all the while dealing with the mental toll of the painful effects of grief as days pass by.
When Parham, the director, approached me to join this project I knew that it was something I felt I needed to be apart of. Parham explained that his drive behind telling the story came from losing his own grandfather and feeling the need to express his grief through creating, something I very much related to at the time having had just lost a loved one as well.
As the production designer, my duties included:
-
Collaborating with my fellow department heads to redesign and set dress the interior of our primary cabin location,
-
Generating floor plans of the cabin to better plan and visualize furniture layouts and camera choreography,
-
Curating the style and acquisition of all props and set dressing elements,
-
Fabricating faux walls to restructure the layout of the cabin location,
-
And completing all pre-production correspondence with the production team remotely via zoom due to location differences and Covid-19 circumstances.
